Why you need monthly returns

Tom,

Your last chart with the Dow sectors illustrates the importance of showing the actual monthly returns. Buy and hold S&P 500 has about the same return over the period that you show. So AIM may be better in terms of volatility, but there is virtually no way to tell unless you give the actually monthly percent returns.
