glennymo, yes Sharp does deserve a good rate.

At this point, I believe the rate structure in the SONY/Ericsson agreement will serve as the basis for all future licensees. It contains rate structures based on handset volumes that can be applied universally, and a discount for prepayments. IDCC doesn't have to twist anybody's arms because they all know the big boys will pay rates based on that table, too. So the playing field is level for everyone.

The more you sell, the better the royalty rate. Sharp probably paid more in the past than they will going forward, but that's OK. The reduction in revenue from Sharp will be more than offset by new revenue from NOK, ERICY, SONY, etc.
