You're right, of course. Was typing fast while juggling several IMs planning my weekend.
When I typed that, I was thinking of the various forms of HIV, some that affect monkeys but not humans, and vice versa.
Obviously people are dying from bird-to-bird H5N1, thus the fear of the epidemic. I gather folks get it from just breathing the dust around coops with infected birds. My girlfriend is in Indonesia right now, and we read up on that bit before she left.
Given the research I mentioned (trying to evolve a human-to-human version from which to create a vaccine), my guess is that they can't make an effective vaccine from the current strain.
