Barclays bought assets and assumed some liabilities from LBI - the brokerage unit. The CTs are obligations of LBHI - the holding company. Of course you can wish that it had been different, but so does all the other debtholders of LBHI. Barclays has no connection to the CTs. There was no reason for even a consideration that Barclays assume the CTs. I don't even now why it is even mentioned here.
