The $12 - $25 is a range based on the Seagate information regarding the $25 end user cost of the hardware based software encryption tools they will require the end user to purchase to enable the drive. (this is a $25 figure quoted for the Seagate FDE drive enablement, as competitive to software-only ATA drive security packages they list for $100 - Utimaco?).
I figure Seagate will want to make money on this through their distribution channel, ergo the $12. If Seagate takes a 50% OEM cut for their distribution channel. I don't think it would be more than 50%, and could be less, ergo the range. I believe, based on the information I have that I just sent awk, that the Wave portion could very well be $12-16 figuring on 35-50 points to Seagate for each seat licensed.
