Ksquared Dan Gable came out of your time period and mine..I think he was actually Iowa. Then did the unthinkable graduated and went to rival Iowa State and turned that program into the national power he had helped Iowa become as a wrestler. I think he lost his first match in the title that would of been his 4th national title and they all might of been in different weights..My guess is he is considered the greatest college wrestler of all time.. On a lighter but sadder side also State of Oregon had a wrestler I think his name was Saunders..about 112. This to show how tought these guys are..( fought golden gloves) and my second rate coach was the toughest person I ever met so I know wrestlers and boxers can be tough. Bar room fight broke out and I saw him take out the Pac 10 first team linebacker..with a pin..unfortunately he died in a car wreck just before the olympics I think..This was after winning the greco roman world title or something along those lines but yeah wrestling is mano a mano..
