Siemens is said to be preparing an offer of more than $6.5 billion for Dresser-Rand Group to upset a competing merger plan by Sulzer AG. Germany's Siemens (SIEGn.DE) is considering a bid for compressor and turbine maker Dresser-Rand (DRC.N) that could potentially derail a merger between Dresser-Rand and Swiss pump maker Sulzer (SUN.S), according to several media reports on Friday.
The Financial Times and Bloomberg reported that Siemens' supervisory board may vote on whether to table a bid at a meeting next week, with Bloomberg citing an offer of more than $85 a share. Siemens declined to comment.
