Yes, there was a merger between DFI and the company it created DFMI
Yes, the merger is meaningless to any relevant issue (see above)
Yes, the Iterated lawyers in Dec 1996 said tmm owns NO Iterated technology rights
And you ask the point of the tmm web site information I posted? Same as the tmm news release I posted about tmm wanting to license the DFMI fractal codec.
You need to read the ridiculous complaint tmm has filed in court. They claim they had NO CLUE DFMI owned or claimed to own the fractal codec. How insane is that? tmm issued press releases about it, was sued regarding it in 2002-3, posted FAQs and Presidential letters about it on their web site, met with DFMI again in 2007 and discussed licensing it again, etc, etc, etc.. And now they know NOTHING?
