Good god I've never paid that much through scottrade- I grilled them half to death about commissions and fee structures before funding my account, though, and they may have been under the impression that I was going to be a larger account (maybe **grinz**)
The highest commission I have ever paid has been $10.20
All of my trades have been between 200-800 bucks though
I feel your pain, though- I started out with sharebuilder. Worst company in the history of earth and I hate them. They are guilty of the man act- LoL!!!
