What planet does Purdy live on?

It isn't Aaron's record Bonds is out to break. The record he's been obsessing on is Babe Ruth's. Ruth is Bonds' own self-designated emblem of a race of people he hates.

I think it's entirely possible that Barry's last bitter act will be to pass Ruth, then retire and hold press conference after press conference talking about how much respect he has for Hank Aaron, and what an imposter Ruth is. How Aaron deserved his hallowed spot in history, but how undeserving Ruth was, and how it's bigotry and a desire to oppress blacks that is the rationalization for any white man who ever writes or talks of Ruth as the greatest ever to play the game.

It would be fitting and appropriate on so many levels. A bitter man full of resentment, going out in a bitter way giving air to the full measure of his resentment at "the white establishment that runs baseball". A contemptuous guy, firing off a last final burst of contempt. A drama queen serving up a super-size plateful of drama.

DD. I don't understant the writers point here........

For the sake of Aaron, those former players must tell Bonds he must announce his retirement after he passes Ruth on the all-time list.

Why should he pass Ruth?

Ruth could hit a ball drunk.

So is anyone going to tell me someone who enhances their ability should be allowed to pass up an alcoholic?

No way.

Takes more skill to hit them out with a hangover or being drunk.

The key here is Ruth wasn't cheating.

Being dumb yes. But not a CHEAT!!!
