I have the book but it's an older (3rd) edition which doesn't cover those processors. The referenced edition is the 5th edition - looks pretty cool to have the comparison in the book. My edition uses a processor ("Fastmath") that I've never heard of for an example.

How does any of this help investors?

What capability does an Intel processor enable that an ARM SOC cannot?

Windows legacy is one. It's useful for the enterprise until the enterprise can figure out a more cost effective way to host applications on the cloud (office 365),

Now turn the question around. What capability does an ARM SOC enable that an Intel processor cannot? Look beyond the CPU. Handset makers are avoiding Intel for a reason.

So Intel processors are faster. Whoop-di-doo. It hasn't helped them in mobile.

CPU power is way over-served anyways. People can run desktop applications with Core2 levels of performance. The ARM guys are getting there in mobile form factors.
