Very competent post! Thank you! Proves my point. In case a benchmark can reside mainly in L1 cache, it is not representative of anything, unless your applications and OS typically reside in 32 kB of memory (C64 style ;-) )

Now consider Apple's huge Level 3 cache (which is of high benefit, no doubt). You can put any of those crippled mobile benchmarks into that, totally blurring the results. This is very different to having a huge OS jumping from code part to code part with many megabytes to even gigabytes of code. Performance is completely different in that case and that's what reality looks like.

SpecInt is a different animal, testing huge tasks with typical workloads. Silvermont does much better than the ARM competition in that (according to Intel, no other sources available).
