You are correct, they are agressively cutting benefits... I was merely referring to the comparison of unemployment rates. (US vs. Germany). Specifically methodology.

I do think the German consumer however is still in better shape than the American consumer and the effect on quality of life is perhaps not as great as it would be if the U.S. had to deal with similar circumstances. People are not living that high on the hog and they do have decent savings...
