Thanks to everyone for their input - all of you thought about it more carefully than I did! Yes, I see it could be more complicated than I thought. I will stay open to the idea that an early halt for efficacy is still a possibility.
I was just thinking that we might not be all that far away from the 2nd interim review. And as the DMC mulls it over, the trial is continuing as is anyway. So they might be tempted to think that since it's not that long until they see the data from the second trigger, why not just wait the extra time and be certain (assuming that an early halt for efficacy is what they are leaning toward)?
But for that to be the case, the next interim review has to be relatively soon. Does anyone have any ideas on when that might be?
