Re: No offense meant
You sure you want to agree with Righton on this one? After all, he did call me a thief... and I'm not entirely sure how you can support that position without offense.
I guess I'm agreeing with you too, as in your original post, you yourself stated that the best thing about broadband is the ability to steal analog cable TV signals. As for agreeing with Righton, well, even a blind squirrel finds the occasional acorn. :)
It is also common knowledge that the signals come on different channels, each of which can be filtered.
Yes, the can, and then they could have to charge even more for BOTH services than they do now to pay for the system upgrades.
Honor bound? Perhaps. Contracturally required? Nope.
Sounds more like justification for something you know is wrong than anything else. Ifyou think it is ok, why don't you tell the cable company you are doing it and see what happens. As quoted from the movie "Rob Roy", "honor is the gift a man gives himself. No one can give it to you, and no one can take it away". you can, however, throw it away all by yourself.
I see, so you believe that it is my responsibility, not the cable company, to filter the signal.
No, I am saying it is your responsibility to pay for what you take.
I didn't order cable channels, I ordered internet access. Had I ordered cable then perhaps that would be a different story. If they want it back they can certainly have it.
Then tell them that you are doing it. Stand up proudly for your principles.
Suppose you order a subscription to Playboy Magazine. The first of the month comes around and you eagerly tear open the plain brown wrapper and find not only a copy of Playboy... but also a copy of Playgirl.
Completely different scenario, but if it makes you feel honest, you go ahead and cling to it. I do hope you're not a religious man, because such a thing would be hard to explain to God.
You are only being billed for the Playboy, but using your logic it appears that you feel that you are now somehow obligated to pay for pictures of naked hairy men.
The logistics of mailing two different magazines in the same package are completely different than those involved in providing cable service.
