I think many of the people at the top at the SEC are pretty smug. They seem to believe they're the only ones who know anything about this stuff. When it comes to penny stocks, they're often wrong. Only staff who've actually worked on penny cases know pennies.

lol, I remember once talking to an SEC guy in Salt Lake about a company with ties to the Dominion of Melchizedek. He had no reason to believe I was insane; someone from FINRA had referred me. But he was absolutely at sea. I just couldn't seem to make him understand.

Finally I just told him the company's Utah incorporation had been revoked. That made him happy.
