I think you are closer to being correct than those that demand immediate and large buys “like the old days”.

Someone on this board projected the number of active US Army Companies don’t remember the number but I think it was more than a few. Also the Marines (not as many) and probable a considerable number of Reserves could be factored in. Then who knows about the foreign number wanting to use the US equipment. So everyone can enjoy figuring and counting their pennies.

What I do believe is the procurement/acquisition process is going to be different in today’s time and future. GAO and Congress do not want to allow the “buying” process of the DoD to go back to the old Boeing Tankers’ time, years ago.

For the WASP to be included in NIE14.2, means the performance in 14.1 was acceptable and the Final Report is approved by a “3 Star General committee”. I doubt very seriously the Generals would rubber stamp any system not measuring up.

Timeline for purchases depends on the NIE time line (assuming WASP is a SUT which I believe it is):

My guess is, if all goes well, the last half of this year purchases of "less but more often" will start occurring. Certainly hope so.

Of course most all of the above is my opinion.
