Thanks for the lesson, and that is what I thought would be the case - one murder is the only logically consistent position given the definition of the beginning of life.
As a matter of principal I agree that one murder is sufficient to bring the full weight of the law as punishment, assuming premeditation, but under the laws of California that is not the case.
As for the necessity of "two witnesses" that is very scriptural, although the additional restrictions seem to be adding to what the Torah itself says, thus altering the teaching.
