Usually a name change occurs first then the new ticker follows in a few weeks to somewhat reflect the initials of the company name change, eg., Big Sack Of Stupid would likely have BSOS for a ticker, or both name and ticker change happen at the same time. To change only the ticker without any reference to a name change should have been a red flag to Finra, particularly for a caveat emptor stinker.
