History:
In addition to its own studies, on September 23, 2004 Merck apparently received information about new research by the FDA that supported previous findings of increased risk of heart attack among rofecoxib users (Grassley, 2004). FDA analysts estimated that Vioxx caused between 88,000 and 139,000 heart attacks, 30 to 40 percent of which were probably fatal, in the five years the drug was on the market.[36]

We are on record stating we will hold the FDA accountable for withholding an efficacious safe drug with potential life saving results. Dr. Margaret Hamburg and the CDER review committee will have to explain to the Senate Committee in 2019 why they killed so many by their inactions. I doubt any of us will forget about our Amarin/FDA experience...

This doesn't include the Cartel/Antitrust allegations currently being reviewed by the OIG...that will be a completely separate show from the regulatory incompetence.
