You should really check the facts before you post. SARS has now killed over 265 people and infected about 4,600 people worldwide. The disease has spread to 25 nations, there is no known cure, and 6% of the people who contract the disease wind up dead.
Still, the 4,600 infections and 265 deaths are not large numbers compared to the total population of the planet. But that is not the point. The disease is spreading. And it is growing. Experts are saying that there is potential for a "horrifying epidemic" should the disease spread to poorer areas of Asia or India.
Like you, Spree, I tend to be skeptical of media reports. Clearly they make money by scaring people into watching (reading, listening to) their sponsors. But this isn't a "fake." People are dying. The disease is spreading.
Whatever you want to believe about the seriousness of the disease, there is no denying it is having an impact on the world's economies.
