A dvd can be burned quite quickly nowadays. I imagine using a flash drive of some sort would be more easily open to copright infringement. If a worker in a CC store burns the DVD for the customer, then the store can have a hard-copy of the movie that they can then reuse to offer to other customers upon return from the original customer (if they are renting). I just think that would be a good idea, IMO, and it is open to debate...
