Did they mention unblinding the trial at anytime? Allowing a outside panel to evaluate the preliminary study results? I have seen this done in a number of cancer drug trials.

No unblinding, no interim results - this is not a difference of immediate life or death like a cancer drug - only was trial gets unblinded is if results are blatantly obvious to doctors and patients (losing placebo affect), or it's considered unfair/unsafe to not allow controls the active drug.
