Sounds like the half full, half empty thing. Google, like any other focused company,
has chosen to implement in steps, allow the market to grow, then introduce more steps. Many people view the internet as being a mature industry. All one has to do is to consider the new IPv6 which Juniper Networks and our National Defense Dept. is implementing. Notice how this is being implemented in a stepwise format.

Contrary to popular belief, an overwhelming majority of people are technology illiterate. To introduce a means for these individuals to begin to use the internet for
information in a simple format is by far the wisest choice. Googles primary focus at this point is to tap that market which no one is currently catering to. For example, the elderly have a huge potential in increasing internet usage. I realize that access is also hindering growth. Thus, this area is another growth area that Google is very focused on.

I believe that many nerds cannot see the forest for the trees. The key to growth in an technological infant society is baby steps, I believe Google has a very focused concept of this which explains their constant increase in market share. Don't underestimate the power of dependancy.
