You apparently are good at reading message board speculations but haven't bothered to actually read the rule on the grandfather clause. It merely said they didn't have to comply with the new rules about covering the naked shorts but any previous short position held after the enactment date still had to be reported but not covered under the new rule.

This means that any preexisting short would show up even though they didn't have to cover based on the new rule. Therefore any existing naked short would have been on the April 2005 list even if it didn't have to be covered. It wasn't, therefore one doesn't exist.

Yes, I know the theories that have been espoused on other boards but they simply aren't true. I have seen speculation that a $32 trillion dollar settlement is being held in trust also. The fact that this represents more money than there is in all of Canada doesn't deter many from believing it to be true.
