chamberlain's moves prior to WWII was part of the argument that is always brought up about appeasement or not acting. and a hitler argument to go into syria? Really? edit: hitler/chamberlain was about territorial expansion, which is not even a factor in syria. except for our imperial power projection.

and an expansion such as one of our ships getting taken out would certainly get interpreted as an act of war (actually retaliation) and then the "defense" argument would go full-bore. our military likes to bully countries, but doesn't play well when someone bites back.

if obama doesn't like mideast wars, isn't the solution apparent to you?
