Yes, I should have been clearer, over time, eg 12 months, statin therapy will show results, however, EPA gets directly into plaques the moment you start taking it in quantity, eg 4G per day. Statins are the longer, side-streets route to the destination while EPA is the high speed direct route to the destination.

Statins- "Plasma total- and LDL-cholesterol levels were significantly (p<0.05) reduced at 6 weeks of treatment, a reduction that was maintained. At 6 months posttreatment, no significant changes in TVA, LA, and VWA were observed However, significant reductions in TVA and VWA (8% and 10%, respectively, p<0.05) were observed at 12 months of therapy"
