Rich, I beg to disagree with your ASIC list comments. ALL of the ASIC's licensees listed ARE licensed to sell CDMA ASIC's to others. All HANDSET licencees have the right to design and install their own chips in their own devices! Intel acquired DSP Communications, with it a CDMA 2g Licensee(QCOM Approval was granted). Since, Intel has elected to let their license with QCOM lapse. Intel is not currently licensed for CDMA products. The list is not confusing, Samsung and Nokia are not on the ASIC list because their license doesn't allow them to sell ASIC's to others. Again only ASIC licensees can sell to others. Nokia and Samsung can hurt ASIC sales only if the CDMA pie stays constant(doesn't get larger). At this time no ASIC licensee has enjoyed success. Samsung will try again in their own phones if one can believe that recent press (No Samsung Release Yet)is accurate(failed last attempt). Motorola has used their own chips in IS95A models but have never used their own chips in the CDMA2001X series. Hope this helps.
