>>Matt: I'm not sure where you are going with this "higher level of banning" concept. Since you specifically mentioned me in your post, am I to understand that you are again revisiting whether or not you the moderator should be able to banish me even if I do not break the rules?<<
I'm talking about another board to compliment the current EDIG, open, public board that you post on now. Like, EDIG Lovers Board. There, they could ban you. If you are are poster they find annoying, you simply can't post there. Just like the boards on SI, RB, Yahoo, etc. I'm sure you are aware of how they work. The normal EDIG board would be ran the same as it is now.
>>Also, what evidence do you have that there is no intent to scam others, pump the stock or misleading shareholder by those who want to eliminate contrary points of view or the correction of misrepresented facts? IMO, that element very definitely exists on that board. <<
Here we go. We all have reasons to post here. If I'm posting about a stock, I want it to go up. If you go to a board talking trash, you want it to go down. Simple as that. We all have motives or we wouldn't waste our time. You have a motive. Whether it's you wearing a Superwoman outfit and thinking you are saving the world or if you are making money on the short-side, you have a reason for being here. We all do. There, that's out of the way.
You are painting a pretty broad stroke on that board, as you always do. I can count 1-2 folks who are hardcore pumpers. The rest are just folks who are stuck in this thing, became friends, and want to talk about it. They don't desire to be beat like pieces of meat on how stupid they are, how they are scamming people, wearing blinders, etc.
Again: Like-minded people gathering to discuss topics of interest.
>>When a stock becomes as illiquid as EDIG is, the motive to keep "everyone else" invested is increased since even relatively small sell-offs can cause a major drop in the share price. Additionally, with a company that relies on sales of freshly minted stock to stay in business, there is a motive to get others to buy the stock since there is always a certain supply for sale.<<
Again, you paint very broad strokes. You act like everybody is saying it's going to the moon. You are so caught up in this whole thing you can't see the forest from the trees. You are the *exact* opposite of a pumper. Who's worse? Just as people will say "If you talk someone into buying a stock and they lose money on it, will you cover their losses?" Same goes the other way. "If you talk someone into selling and the stock goes to the moon, you going to cover their missed profits?" It's a worthless discussion. In the end, it's the responsibility of the person pulling the trigger. I'm getting off topic here.
Let me repeat yet again the object here: People to discuss stocks (or whatever) using the investorshub.com url. If they aren't, I'm not doing my job. I'm not here to protect people from themselves. I'm here to promote discussions amongst themselves and with you.
>>In the end, you may decide to capitulate to the demands of penny stock touts and naive investors who believe the myth that only paid bashers criticize their stock. If you do, you no longer have a "discussion," but a tout board.<<
Nope, you've got options in the scenario I'm proposing. You can go to the EDIG Lovers board if you are an EDIG Lover and wish to post amongst very biased folks. Or you can post on the EDIG Main Board, if you wish to post amongst opposing view points. Your choice. Your money.
Again, I'm just opening the floor up for discussion, since the topic has come up again on the IDCC board. Not only do I want to provide a potential solution (if it needs to be fixed?), I also want to come up with yet another way to promote the site and grow beyond what we already have here.
Is there a market out there that really wants private boards?
All things I'm scratching on.
