Tegra 4 Graphics Performance Disappoints

http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/tablets/toshiba-excite-pro.aspx

Ashraf, I did some more sleuthing for some 3DMark data on Tegra 4, and I finally found a review of the Toshiba Excite Write that includes a 3DMark score.

It measures 11,728, which is quite a bit below what I had expected in my earlier post, which was based on Shield measurements: #msg-90841386

It seems that actual tablet implementations do not get the unconstrained frequencies that nVidia can do on the Shield.

If I were to redraw the tiers, they would be as follows:

Top Tier: 3DMark Icestorm at 15-20+k
- Snapdragon 800
- Exynos 5420
- Apple A7X
- Haswell "Y" 6W
- AMD Temash 8W

Middle Tier: 3DMark Icestorm at 10-15k
- Bay Trail (see #msg-88311787)
- AMD Temash 3.9W (estimated)
- Apple A6X (estimated, not tested under this benchmark)
- Tegra 4 (~12k)
- Snapdragon 600 / S4 Pro (10-11k)
- Exynos 5410 (10k)

Bottom Tier: 3DMark Icestorm at <5k
- Tegra 3 (~3.5k)
- Mediatek MT8125 (~3k, SGX544, inside Asus MemoTab 7 HD)
- Exynos 4212 (~3k, Mali-400 MP4, inside Galaxy Tab 3 8.0)
- Intel Z2670 (~2k, SGX545)
- Marvell PXA986 (~2k, Vivante GC1000+ MP2, inside Galaxy Tab 3 7.0)
