Smiley______face. Hey, the 2005 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau was a superior little wine, which is why I chose it. The first time I tasted it I wrote on WINE how surprised I was by how wonderful it is for what it is. So fresh yet with a backbone. Most Nouveaus, and even Beaujolais, are underwhelming. The delicate beauty of the 2005 took me by surprise and is extremely accessible both in its simplicity and supposed availability, AND price. If you did indeed drink this villages swill (I shouldn't write that without having had it but by all reports I got it wasn't good at all), that's too bad. OH! And I also found that once it was open and had a chance to breathe... was put back in the frig and opened again... colder was better!!! When freshly opened it's better a bit warmer but once it opened up, colder was mint. It filled out enough so that it didn't taste small, harsh and tight. And, in fact, WAS perfect at the traditional temp recommendations.

I had four Malbecs tonight. One was huge and terrific, one was not as big and a great buy, one was gross and raisiny and yucky and one needed tons of breathing to find its stride and then it was yummy. Malbecs are terrific and a bottle of wine is a unique thing and a lovely experience.

Blah, blah, blah. Anyway, thanks for the terrific post.
