the Caracal (formerly Griffiths) Energy announcement in September 2012 said that the effective date of the Heads of Terms Agreement was July 1, 2012 making it almost 12 months for the formal completion of the contract. Although, it should be noted that both companies went through some major happenings (the bribery investigation of Griffiths and the merger with Xstrata for Glencore) that probably contributed to the extended time-frame.
