The thing is, right now we are talking high prices for home heating with both natural gas and oil. What will happen if/when shortages develop -- if we truly are at peak oil, given the instability of the oil-producing nations and competition for supplies, it is not outside the realm of possibility, and IMO shortages are just a matter of time. At that point it won't matter what the price is if one cannot obtain the product. Perhaps people will be forced to go back to burning coal, of which we have plenty, though the pollution generated is not a good thing.
Newly
