This report you posted is rediculous.

It had been long ASSUMED (by who?that the United States Government, shortly before Iraq invaded Kuwait in August of 1990, gave Saddam Hussein a green light to attack.[/quote]

That "green light" is based on the following:

As Saddam Hussein outlined Iraq’s ongoing border dispute with Kuwait, Ambassador Glaspie was quite clear that, “we took no position on these Arab affairs.”

What was the extent of the "on going border despute with Kuwait"?
Did Saddam tell Ambassador Glaspie that it included the very existance iof Kuwait? Because when his forces invaded Kuwait they occupied and annexed evcery square foot of it.

Kuwait and Iraq had been diputing the boundaries of the Ramallah oil field for years. Both countries claimed the other was drilling directional wells, beneath the border.

It's far easier for the non-blame America first mind, to believe any comment the US Ambassador made about not "taking a position on these Arab affairs" was referring to the Ramallah dispute rather than giving Saddam the "green light" to invade, occupy and annex Kuwait.

There is so much anti-American garbage out there that people grab, with out applying common sense and logic.
