mas, One would assume there would be 1MB parts at the high-end at least.

First, it would be great if we could find a standard way to talk about cache sizes. To talk about Yonah as a 2MB L2 part vs. eg. Athlon X2 3800+ as a 512kb L2 will only confuse going forward, so I´d suggest talking about 1MB L2 and 2MB L2 for AMD´s dual-cores,
the total L2 cache size. Which one do you mean?

You do know that AMD's clock per power is coming down all the time

Well if it didn´t they´d fall out of the race pretty quickly, but
again the key question is what frequencies will Taylor reach in H2 2006 on 90nm? It is clear that 1.8Ghz no-matter-what-L2 will not cut it, and a ~200mm^2 mobile part...well....
