A balanced approach is okay, but with the huge disparity of incomes, letting the rich skate even more is a non-starter. Virtually every way of the rich avoiding taxes has been exploited already, to the point we have to borrow money just to run the government, since there isn't much more to squeeze out of the lower income groups.
