4retire I understand that you are basically posting because there are some inconsistencies between what you were told by different parties. But I don't think you still have facts straight. The TMMI product for CDROM was video. That is just fact. In the games for Spectrum Holybyte they compressed the video scenes, same with Microsoft Encarta. There is no "CDROM" version other than video. Guess what the CDROM version means...the version that runs on the Windows computers of the time.
So someone gave you wrong info or you misunderstood what you were told.
A lot of posters keep mentioning SGI computers which were some of the fastest 20 years ago. You might have been excited to get the codec to run on them when Kramer was alive but today's desktops and video cards totally blow them away. it would be completely pointless to use them unless you had no version that runs on windows.
Now I don't know if this is all true but that is how I put together the info. Why don't you try to get some other people to confirm and we will all understand what is going on here much better.
