Windows 7 system image backup issue.
ON a dell latitude laptop.
I created a system image backup - hoping to use it. but problems do crop up.
The system image file is on an external harddrive.
when booting from the recovery DVD, seems to go okay, takes a few minutes for windows7 to get to the point where you can select the image.
A dialog window comes up to 'load drivers' or 'select image'.
I can't make the recovery s/w look on the external drive. If I select load drivers, I can 'see' the external drive (a western digital USB hard drive), but there are no drivers there. When going back to load image, I can't seem to put in the drive letter, can only restart - which then tells me partition unavailable and need to turn the laptop off. But can restart the whole process over again upon booting by selecting F12 and selecting boot from DVD. Goes into the loading windows files - and then the same conundrum, not being able to make system recovery look at the external drive...
thanks for any ideas.
Don't see what good system image backup does if you can't do it. and assuming it's something I've done.
