The Clover Trail ref design was released on Jan 12, 2012. Several hardware immplementations were shown in San Francisco in late Sept 2012. That was an 8-month interval.
Why do you think that was? It usually doesn't take that long to bring a product to market, once you have the reference design running. Unless the Jan-12 demo was a mock-up without silicon.
