But until they determine they are not real people the US government will assume that they are. So basically this little stage play put a big red spotlight on the identities of the CEO and CFO and said "come look at us real closely!!" And when it is discovered "officially" they are not real and therefore murder's of the two identities did not occur...guess what...you now have more people looking at it than you otherwise would have had.

If it turns out this is almost entirely contained inside Mexico, then it probably devolves back to a pure securities fraud investigation...as long as the individuals in Mexico are not too colorful in their associations.
