Plum Creek Timber Company, Inc. today announced that Tom Lindquist, 52, executive vice president and chief operating officer, has been named president of the company. In this role, Lindquist will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and public policy activities of the company. He will continue to serve as chief operating officer.

Rick Holley, 60, Plum Creek's president and chief executive officer since 1994, will continue to serve as chief executive officer.

It’s pretty clear that Lindquist will be the next CEO in a few years (if he hasn’t left to be CEO somewhere else).
