What’s Ahead for Trusted Computing and Mobile Devices
These eleven use cases form the basis of the current technical requirements, architecture and specifications work within TCG. TCG’s mobile security specification is estimated to be ready for publication in the first half of 2006.
Once the specification is available, device manufacturers will have the opportunity to embed state-of-the-art, standardized security level capabilities into their products. From then onwards, carriers, service and content providers, as well as end-users can have a higher degree of confidence in mobile devices.
In the meantime, ARM has licensed the TrustZone security extension to virtually all of the 16 top silicon producers for the mobile space.
The TCG mobile work group is meeting weekly with the mobile device manufacturers and service providers. And I would not be the least bit surprised if product launch would more or less coincide with the release of the TCG mobile specifications.
