Many may be missing what could be the real significance of working with Lucent if that is what really results from this settlement. IMO it may be possible for IDCC / LU co-design efforts to get IDCC proprietary technologies designed into future LU infrastructure. If so, then handset manufacturers may be required (or at least strongly encouraged by the service providers) to license IDCC technology to produce handsets for that infrastructure. In the long run, as systems are built out, cellular handware revenue will be increasingly dominated by handset sales.
