At mass tonight our priest had a sermon prepared but instead addressed what happened on Friday.

It's the same priest that married us and baptized our son.

He said it was okay to get angry while we grieve for the children in CT. And while we rejoice in the coming birth of Jesus he reminded us that God also weeps for those children.

He also stated that he had sat down on Saturday and written letters to our 2 senators and his congressman that they must address gun violence in America.

It's one of the VERY FEW times where I have heard a Catholic priest get political. Despite what people may think Catholic priests don't use the pulpit to further a political or moral agenda. They are a little more subtle. wink

At the end of mass he apologized to the congregation if he had offended anyone.

Leaving church I shook his hand and told him he did a great job. It's something that needed to be said for a long time.

We should all be angry at our politicans this evening for their failure to address this issue.
