Yes, even assuming your Cassandresque scenario of EDIG lying about everything, that still doesn't lead to the conclusion that the amount of debt reduction is LESS than that stated, it could as easily be more (which is sometimes the case for old debt collection as I'm sure you know more, the lender agrees to take payment for less than they are actually owed just so they get something rather than nothing).
