ABT’s BoD formally approves AbbVie spinoff on a 1:1 basis—i.e. 1 share of ABBV will be issued free of charge for each share of ABT on 1/1/13:

The post-spinoff ABT will be one of the premiere beneficiaries of The Global Demographic Tailwind (#msg-75216470, #msg-74567343, #msg-68255872) and I intend to maintain a large position.

I will probably hold a large position in ABBV too, but I’m less confident about ABBV than about the “new” ABT.
