this is the unknown and our technology is special because of this.
What an amazing thing for them to say. Exactly what is it that they think is unknown at this time?
Microwaves? - Nope, been known and manipulated in the RF engineering community for nearly a century.
Microwave heating phenomenolgy? At least 70 years for that one.
Magnetron tubes? Well, lets see, they were first invented by GE in the 1920's, and then reduced to practical devices by the En glish during World War 2 as a means of generating high power radar pulses.
Water? - I understand that water has been around a long time.
Plumbing? - Been around for a couple of centuries.
Hot water? - Been around since at least ancient Greece.
Electricity? - I guess that somewhere between Ben Franklin and Nikola Tesla, folks have come to grips with the existence and uses of electricity.
So, where exactly is this unknown stuff that we are facing, like grim-jawed angels of technology?
About the only thing that is unknown, and which makes some difference to the operation of a microwave water heating device is the choice of operating frequency. The common commodity grade magnetrons which can be gotten easily are designed to operate somewhat off of the optimum energy transfer frequency to provide the necessary cooking environment in a microwave oven. In this application, would it be more effective to have a magnetron custom designed and manufactured to improve the energy transfer efficiency to the water flowing through the heater, or, perhaps this is handled by the super-secret and sacred MMMCCCHHHUUU or whatever they call it that effectuates the transfer of energy from a (perhaps) 70% efficient magnetron to the water.
Or, perhaps the unknown is how you start with an energy efficiency of about 70% in the magnetron and couple more than 100% of the supplied energy to the alleged water which your alleged heater is allegedly heating, when you can find an extension cord that fits it.
I would love to hear the response to these points. Wanderport? Robert? Anyone? Buehler? Anyone?
