Industry average for open pit is 2.69 Au-g/t for open pit, 15.72 g/t for underground, according to Mining Almanac. Lower grades are just a fact of life from open pit mines because the volume of gold is being divided by a greater volume of overburden and waste rock.
Like mjk said, grades are irrelevant if throughput and profitability metrics can be met.
