BCRX, an other flu play, is rock'n and roll'n today, maybe because Cramer told his viewers to buy it last night. It soared over $15 to something like $15.42 during the lunch hour Eastern Standard Time. Within minutes it backed off to the $14.80's. My guess is that Mad Money viewers were buying like mad during their lunch hour.
Will be interesting to see whether this continues.
As for SVA, I don't think it is even a flu play yet. The right PR could take care of that. Cramer won't recommend SVA, so there will be no Mad Money rally in SVA like there is in BCRX as I write this.
I own small positions in both. If SVA starts to act crazy, I'll jump in with both feet. Won't increase BCRX position since it has already had a nice run and costs more than 250% more than SVA. Wonder what would be the total number of doses of vaccine Sinovac could crank out if a germ hit the fan.
Speaking of germs, has anyone seen the OJ commercial? The line goes something like this: "To avoid the flu this season, you could always move to a deserted island". Then you see a picture of a guy sitting on a tiny island under a palm tree looking bored out of his mind. Next to him is a little chimp. The chimp starts sneezing like crazy. You have to see it--but it is very funny.
Even the commercials are spreading the flu phobia.
