Pentium Pro launched in November, 1995, and was a huge step towards putting x86 into the enterprise, where RISC was a formidable opponent. It's moot to compare to AMD at this point, since Pentium Pro sold for >$1000 and did not compete in mainstream markets.

Bull****. I bought a 200 MHz PPro system for myself at the
same time as I bought a 166 MHz Pentium box for my dad
about a year after PPro came out. The cost difference in
mobo and processor was only a few hundred dollars, a bargain
when you consider the performance delta. Intel sold over 7
million PPros at a time when x86 servers were sold in small
volumes so the majority went into PCs.

Peddle your revisionist BS history to kiddies who weren't
born then, maybe they will believe you.
